Temptations or Should I say Self Discipline
During the 3 day 2 night chalet that was organised by Hao Zhi, so many things happen.Which test my discipline as a Christian.Starting, vulgarities it is my 3rd language after English and Chinese.I am so used to saying vulgarities that I used it every time when I'm being the real me.Our mouth speaks life and death. It is also written in the bible that our mouth is very powerful.I can't control my mouth when I'm with my friends compared to my church friends.Although I am angry with them,I will not have the urge to say vulgarities that is when I realized that it was the situation that I'm in that changed me but I do not have the discipline to change myself to be what I am when I'm with my normal friends.Another thing smoking,I dare to say,I smoke before,it is nothing boastful!I smoke as I wanted to try or 'curious' how does it feel like, but I did not get addicted though which I find that it was a good thing compared to a friend of mine who say he quit smoking but during the chalet he saw the rest of our friends smoking and he have that urge to smoke again. He always said that he quit smoking and will not touch it but during the chalet he gave in and it is obvious that he did not even have a sense of self discipline. He began to beg around for one puff,I know this is wrong but I told him that firstly,if you want to smoke go buy yourself or buy one stick don't keep going around begging for one puff.Second option, that is don't smoke and have self control in the end he chose the first option and he bought half a pack of cigarettes from my friend.Gambling,it was very fun and exciting and satisfying every time you won a game or getting a good hand.It started to be wrong when money is involved,Yes the definition of Gamble is to stake on something etc or taking a risk. The stake is too high and risky. You will get addicted to it very easily if you do not pull yourself out of it very fast enough, you will be completely taken control by the 'Gamble'. That's how people get addicted to it cause the game always gave hopes and slowly entice your minds into it and that is when you cant differentiate whether you are playing for fun or just plain sake of getting easy money.Starting you may get a lot of good hands but after awhile lady luck does not seems to be on your side and that is where you start to lose and you are trying to make a comeback so the more you wanted and feel like playing a game to recoup your losses.Problem is that you will not win every time and there is also not a very high chance to win after playing for so long.Everything became wrong when your motive is wrong.if your motive is not for fun and to recoup your money that you lose, you will have to pull yourself out of it or else you will drop into an abyss in 10 or 20 years time.I'm not saying that they are a bad influence and they are wrong, just that they find doing this kind of things are okay and is not so serious. But as Christians doing this kind of things are over the extend of what we should be.I find that if you can't control yourself, first thing is to seek help or account to someone about your doubts and ask them whether it is the right thing, most of the time before we do something wrong,if we have a confirmation from someone that is older than us or someone that we trust said that is wrong we will immediately stop what we are doing and not even attempt to try it.You may look weak in front of your friends but when you see God he will remember what you did choosing him over your friends. The sacrifices you made and ridicule will not be in vain :D
